Bulgarian drug maker Huvepharma acquired US-based AgriLabs

Bulgarian drug maker Huvepharma acquired US-based animal health and nutrition company AgriLabs and its product portfolio for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition also includes the three subsidiaries of the American company – Benchmark Biolabs, Antelope Valley Bios, and VaxLiant, specializing in research, production, and innovation of vaccines, food, and animal feed additives.

The acquisition furthers Huvepharma’s strategy to create a balanced portfolio of products and enhance its global outreach. It enables more rapid commercialization of vaccine products 06through Benchmark Biolabs, says Glen Wilkinson, president of Huvepharma, USA. Huvepharma will invest approximately $5.7 M in improvements to the existing Benchmark Biolabs facilities. The investment would help the company to achieve objectives for new vaccine manufacturing and development business, along with assisting global affiliates’ vaccine projects.

Huvepharma is a global pharmaceutical company with a focus on developing, manufacturing and marketing of human and animal health products. Huvepharma is a privately-owned company, headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria, with U.S. headquarters in Peachtree City, Georgia.

AgriLabs is one of the largest US companies for animal feeds and organic products related to farm animal health. It is a fully integrated family of companies founded in 1984. It provides technical veterinary advice and supports concept-to-commercialization of innovative products and services. AgriLabs’ distribution network represents more than 90% of all food animal products sold in the U.S.

Both companies will continue operations under their current identities as integration opportunities are identified in 2018, with AgriLabs operating as a division of Huvepharma, retaining its current headquarters. Huvepharma and AgriLabs are complementary to their business and products and will be a major factor in the American market for animal food and products. Following the acquisition, the Bulgarian company will be operating a total of 6 plants in the United States.
