Bulgaria-based online retailer Ozone.bg acquired the main local store chain for games and accessories, Pulsar. Financial terms and further details of the deal were not disclosed. With the acquisition, Ozone.bg plans to enter the offline trading market and to have larger share of the gaming market.
Pulsar is the leading exclusive retailer of video games and accessories in Bulgaria. The company was established in 1990 and its stores are located mainly in shopping centers in different parts of the country. Pulsar’s portfolio of products includes a large variety of PC and video games, new generation consoles like PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo, and all the accessories that are supported by them. Prior to the acquisition of Ozone.bg, Pulsar was targeted by the Czech video games store chain, JRC. Pulsar’s revenue for 2018 was nearly €5 M.
Ozone.bg, the brand name of Ozone Entertainment, is one of the largest Bulgarian online entertainment retailers. The company was established by Mr. Ivo Dzhokov in 2008 and began by selling games and gaming accessories. Today Ozone.bg’s portfolio offers a large variety of products starting from games, books, movies, music, TVs, computers, toys and more. For 2018 the company’s revenue rounded up to €8 M growing more than 15 times for the last 6 years. With the acquisition of Pulsar, Ozone.bg plans to reach revenue of €25 M by the end of 2020 and expand the company further by adding new categories in the future.
