The German Precision Motors Deutsche Minebea GmbH acquires the local producer of injection-molded gears and drive components made of plastic, Mast Kunststoffe GmbH & Co. KG. The deal is still subject to the approval by the antitrust authorities and financial terms are not disclosed. Financial advisor to Mast Kunststoffe GmbH & Co in the deal was SORTIS’s partner in the Globalscope M&A advisors network, Carlsquare, a corporate finance and M&A consultancy firm.
Mast Kunststoffe GmbH & Co. KG is a Germany-based leading supplier of tool-bound plastic gear and drive components. The company was established in 1960 by Franz Mаst and lately became managed by his sons, Dipl.-Kaufm. Peter Mast and Dipl.-Ing. Ulrich Mast. Mast Kunststoffe produces gearbox components, drive elements and components in plastic-metal combinations like axles and shafts, pins, bushings, sintered parts etc. The company has a workforce of 130 employees and generates revenue of €23 M. Commenting on the deal, Ulrich Mast said: “We are pleased to have found a strategic and very dynamic partner with whom we have already worked well and trustfully for many years, and with whom we can address the challenges of the future.“
Precision Motors Deutsche Minebea GmbH is the German subsidiary of the Japanese multinational producer of machinery components and electronic devices, Minebea Mitsumi Co., Inc. Along with the production of drive systems for the industry and the automotive sector, the company specializes also in the production of hard disc drive motors, highly efficient electronically commutated BLDC motors and energy harvesting systems. With the acquisition of Mast Kunststoffe, Precision Motors Deutsche Minebea will strengthen and broaden its product range of drive components and will open significant perspectives, great growth possibilities, and synergies in an international context. The company aims to create an European competence center for precision plastic parts in the field of gear and drive components.
